Q3. A shopkeeper marks an item 40% above cost price and gives 15% discount. What is his profit percentage?
Effective factor = 1.40 × 0.85 = 1.19

Q4. A can do a work in 15 days, B in 25 days. They work together for 5 days. How much work is left?
A+B = 1/15 + 1/25 = 8/75
Work done in 5 days = 5 × 8/75 = 40/75
Remaining = 35/75 = 7/15

Q5. Train A takes 9 sec to cross a pole at 72 km/h. Its length?
72 km/h = 20 m/s
Length = 20 × 9 = 180 m

Savings = 25% = 4500
Salary = 4500 × 4 = 18000

Q10. A man walks 10 km east, then 6 km south. How far is he from start?
Distance = √(100 + 36) = √136 = 11.66 km
Answer: 11.66 km
Q11. The HCF of two numbers is 18. If their LCM is 240, product of numbers?
Product = HCF × LCM = 18 × 240 = 4320
Answer: 4320
Q12. A alone can do a job in 24 days, B alone in 16 days. They work alternate days starting with A. When will work finish?
Day 1+2 work = 1/24 + 1/16 = 5/48
Total 10 such cycles = 10 × 5/48 = 50/48 = 1.04
So between 19–20th day.
Answer: 20 days approx.
Q13. Liquid A and B are in ratio 3:5 in 24L mixture. How much B to add to make ratio 3:7?
A = 9L
B = 15L
Let x be added:
15 + x = 7/3 × 9 = 21
x = 6
Answer: 6L
Q14. If log10(2x) = 3, find x.
log₁₀(2x) = 3
10³ = 2x
1000 = 2x
x = 1000 / 2
x = 500
Q15. A boat travels 24 km downstream in 3 hours. Speed of current is 2 km/h. Find speed of boat in still water.
Distance/time = 8 km/h (downstream)
Boat speed = 8 − 2 = 6 km/h
Answer: 6 km/h
